12:43 am - Of course it's a Tibetan book.
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
6. Tag five people.
"United States policy, therefore, has inadvertently strengthened the hand of the very hard-liners in China whose policies the Dalai Lama seeks to improve. Consequently, it is hard not to conclude that American expressions of support for Tibet and the Dalai Lama have been inherently counterproductive and the latest example of the Western 'bad friend' syndrome. The U.S. government and the Congress makes sympathetic but innocuous gestures of support, but carefully avoid using their might to induce China to compromise on terms the Dalai Lama is willing to accept; in the process they foster conditions that lead Beijing to consider a hard-line policy in Tibet to be in its national interests." from Melvyn Goldstein's The Snow Lion and the Dragon: China, Tibet, and the Dalai Lama. It is one of the most fantastic books on the subject of Tibet. It was on my desk right in front of me when I discovered these instructions. I'm writing a paper on Tibet right now. Go figure.

03:32 pm - I am bad.
Oh no. I am lusting after an Italian traveller. Dejavu. Oh no. What do I do? I have a boyfriend! Eep. And this traveller is my roommate. Ugh. He's so sexy with his accent and his wanderlust. Damnit. I know it's normal to think about other people when you are in a relationship, but I kind of wish Chappy and I were on a break while I'm here. Well, I want to be on a break. I don't want Chappy making out with any of his chicks. Ugh. This is not a good color on me.

06:07 pm - Today is strange.
I think I failed my chemistry test. I hate my life.
But then I came home and got an email from one of my advisers (Anthropology). She offered me a position in Guatemala this summer. And as we all know that I didn't get the Anthropology grant I had originally applied for, I was flattered to get this offer from her as she had turned me down originally.
EDIT: I AM NOT TAKING HER OFFER. I AM ALREADY SET TO GO TO TIBET. SHE IS SUPPOSED TO EMAIL ME NOW WHETHER OR NOT I CAN PASS THIS OPPORTUNITY ON TO YOU ALL.

11:00 pm - Apparently I've done something wrong...
Now Nobu's leaving. He's moving to St.Louis. Why is EVERYONE IN THE WORLD LEAVING ME HERE?!?!
10:14 pm - Reincarnation complete.
My new phone is here. It is alive and working properly. I expect phone calls. And please, people, send me text messages. I usually keep the ones that make me laugh or feel special but the death of my last phone erased all of those good memories. Now I've got nothing.
P.S. Chemistry test tomorrow.....
